Krishnaiyan Thulasiraman received the bachelor's and master's degrees in EE from the University of Madras in 1963 and 1965, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IITM), Chennai, India, in 1968. From 1994 to 2017, he was a Professor and the Hitachi Chair in Computer Science with the University of Oklahoma, Norman, where he is currently a Professor and the Hitachi Chair Emeritus. Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma, he was a Professor and the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada, from 1981 to 1994 and 1993 to 1994, respectively. He was on the Faculty in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Departments, IITM, from 1965 to 1981.

Dr. Thulasiraman's research interests have been in graph theory, combinatorial optimization, algorithms and applications in a variety of areas in computer science, and electrical engineering, particularly fault diagnosis, tolerance, and testing. His most recent interest is in the emerging area of network science and engineering.

Dr. Thulasiraman has published more than 100 papers in archival journals. He has co-authored with M. N. S. Swamy Graphs, Networks and Algorithms (New York: Wiley, 1981) and Graphs: Theory and Algorithms (New York: Wiley, 1992) and several book chapters. He co-edited Handbook of Graph Theory, Combinatorial Optimization and Algorithms (CRC Press, 2015). He has a U.S. patent on Distributed QoS Routing.

Dr. Thulasiraman has received several awards and honors, including the "Pioneers of Circuits and Systems" recognition (2017), Distinguished Alumnus Award of IIT Madras, the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Technical Achievement Award, the IEEE CAS Society Golden Jubilee Medal, the Senior Fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science, the Gopalakrishnan Endowed Chair Professor of IIT Madras, and the fellow of American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the European Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Thulasiraman has been Vice President (Administration) of the IEEE CAS Society (1998, 1999), Technical Program Chair of ISCAS (1993, 1999), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I (2004-2005), Co-Guest Editor of a special issue on "Computational Graph Theory: Algorithms and Applications" (IEEE Transactions on CAS , March 1988), Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on CAS (1989-91, 1999-2001), and Founding Regional Editor of the Journal of Circuits, Systems, and Computers. He is a founding member of the editorial board of the AKCE International Journal of Graphs and Combinatorics.
