Telecommunications in today's competitive marketplace typically involve multiple carriers, multiple services, varied equipment from multiple vendors, and multiple interconnected networks and network systems. The increasing demand in bandwidth for computing and communications has given rise to high speed networks. These networks require special types of switching and traffic management mechanisms. This special session is intended to cover different aspects of high speed switching, congestion control and service interworking mechanisms. Topics include (but are not limited to):
