There has been a tremendous interest in the use of multimedia in the past few years. With the widespread availability of networks connecting a large number of computers, it is important to consider the various architectural and algorithmic issues related to distributed multimedia systems. This special session is planned to evaluate the present state of the art in communication and computing requirements for distributed multimedia systems as well as to explore future directions of research and development. Topics include (but are not limited to): Submission should include authors names, affiliations, addresses, fax and phone numbers, email addresses, on the cover page. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted.
